Lernziele
Metals:
The students are familiar with the theoretical background of the crystal structure and the deformation processes in metals on the atomistic level. The different hardening procedures, and their metallographic mechanisms are understood. The students know the main influence factors on the mechanical behaviour.
 
Concrete:
The students get a deep understanding of the behaviour of concrete, a very heterogeneous and rather brittle material, under compression and tension loading. They understand the influence of test conditions, light weight aggregates and fibres on concrete properties.
 
Soils:
The students understand the effective stresses and pore pressures. They also understand Hooke´s law of linear elasticity, exponential compression law in Hardening-Soil model, the preconsolidation pressure and the stress-strain curves from drained triaxial test. The measurement of shear strength in direct shear tests, uniaxial compression tests and standard drained triaxial tests is also clarified.
